Most recently, Wiser co-founded Sezmi Corporation.  Under Mr. Wiser’s leadership, Sezmi created a next generation television technology platform that redefines the television experience with advanced personalization and cloud-based and hybrid video delivery technologies.  Mr. Wiser specifically developed the technology strategy and architectural approach for this novel and critically acclaimed television delivery solution.  He also oversaw the resulting product definition and development efforts that resulted in successful release of the Sezmi platform.

Mr. Wiser worked with major cable programming groups and Hollywood studios to acquire content for delivery on the Sezmi platform in the U.S. and other regions.  The Sezmi platform was specifically designed under Mr. Wiser’s leadership to support the existing and emerging business needs of television content providers and broadcasters.  This was accomplished through the integration of multi-screen, on-demand, personalization, advertising and wireless delivery into a unified consumer experience.  Sezmi launched the service in major U.S. markets and has announced deployments in Asia and South America with major groups such as Televisa and TV Azteca.

In this role, Wiser led SCA’s overall digital media business and technology strategy and was responsible for coordinating these efforts across Sony’s content and electronics companies.  In this role, he strongly promoted the integration of content, services, software and hardware across the Sony organization to create uniquely accessible consumer experiences. As an example, he identified and promoted a mobile music streaming solution that was launched in Europe with Vodafone.  He advanced the use of e-Ink based mobile readers and oversaw the creation of the first digital eBook store directly integrated with a reading device.

Wiser joined Sony in 2001 as the CTO and SVP, Digital at Sony Music.  He created the Digital Business Group at Sony Music that then transformed the company from a physical CD business into a collection of large scale digital businesses.  He forged the ground breaking deals with iTunes and pioneered the mobile music space during his tenure at Sony Music.  He was responsible for all digital media and technology initiatives, including digital music distribution, mobile music businesses, new physical music formats, industry standards, online consumer marketing and anti-piracy strategy and technologies.

Prior to joining Sony Music, Wiser co-founded Liquid Audio, Inc. and served on its board of directors and as chief technology officer.  At Liquid Audio, Wiser created the first commercial internet music distribution platform and led the creation of key technologies that now enable the digital music marketplace.  Wiser holds a series of patents in digital music distribution, audio compression and processing and security as a result of these efforts.

Mr. Wiser has also worked in key industry groups such as MPEG, SDMI, and AES to accelerate the adoption of networked technologies for media distribution.

Prior to Liquid Audio, Mr. Wiser worked extensively in the Silicon Valley developing new media technologies.  During this time he developed audio algorithms and audio processing systems for several professional and consumer audio organizations. He directed audio compression work at Chromatic Research, a multimedia semiconductor device company. He also served as director of digital signal processing research for Studer Editech Corporation, a professional audio recording equipment company. Prior to that, he developed audio software systems for Sonic Solutions and Euphonix, both developers of professional digital audio products.

Mr. Wiser holds a M.S. in electrical engineering from Stanford University and a summa cum laude B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.  He spent time at the world-renowned Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) during his tenure at Stanford.
